Picasso Seed Potatoes are a popular maincrop variety, known for their impressive disease resistance and high yield. With their distinctive white skin and firm, waxy texture, Picasso potatoes are perfect for boiling, mashing, and making delicious salads. This variety produces large, uniform tubers with a great flavour, making it a reliable choice for both novice and experienced gardeners alike.

When to Plant:
Plant Picasso potatoes in early to mid-spring, from late March to April, once the soil has warmed up and is free from frost. Choose a sunny, well-drained location and prepare the soil by loosening it and adding organic matter to enhance fertility. Chit the seed potatoes before planting by placing them in a cool, bright space for 2-3 weeks to encourage sprouting and ensure healthy plants.

When to Feed:
Feed Picasso potatoes with a balanced fertiliser or potato-specific feed. Apply the first dose about 4-6 weeks after planting to support strong growth, and a second feed when the plants start flowering to encourage better tuber development and higher yields.

When to Harvest:
Picasso potatoes are typically ready for harvest in 14-16 weeks, from late summer to early autumn (August to September), once the foliage begins to yellow and die back.

How to Get the Best Results:
For the best results, ensure consistent watering, particularly during dry spells, and keep the soil weed-free. Hill up the soil around the plants to protect the tubers from sunlight and boost yield. Regular care will lead to a healthy, bountiful crop.
