Berberis thunbergii ‘Concorde’ – 2L Pot
Berberis thunbergii ‘Concorde’ is a striking, compact deciduous shrub known for its rich, deep purple-black foliage and neat, rounded shape. In late spring, it produces small yellow flowers, which contrast beautifully against the dark leaves and are followed by small red berries in autumn, providing food for birds and seasonal interest.
Growing to around 50cm tall and wide, ‘Concorde’ is ideal for borders, rock gardens, low hedging, or container planting. It thrives in full sun to partial shade, although the deepest foliage colour develops in full sun. This low-maintenance shrub also offers stunning autumn colour, turning fiery red before leaf fall.
Minimal pruning is required—trim lightly in early summer after flowering to maintain shape and remove any damaged or wayward stems. Avoid hard pruning unless rejuvenating an older plant.
Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser to encourage strong growth and vibrant foliage. Mulching annually helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Supplied in a well-established 2-litre pot, Berberis ‘Concorde’ is a bold yet compact choice that brings long-lasting colour, texture, and structure to gardens of all sizes—perfect for both traditional and contemporary spaces.
