Lavatera ‘Barnsley’ – 1.5L–2L Pot
Lavatera ‘Barnsley’, also known as the tree mallow, is a much-loved, fast-growing deciduous shrub that brings an abundance of colour to the garden. From early summer to autumn, it produces masses of soft pink, hibiscus-like flowers with a deep rose centre, standing out beautifully against its grey-green foliage.
Perfect for sunny borders, cottage gardens, or as a focal point in mixed shrub beds, ‘Barnsley’ thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. It’s an excellent choice for coastal or exposed sites and attracts plenty of bees and butterflies, making it ideal for wildlife-friendly gardens.
To keep the plant looking its best and encourage strong, bushy growth, prune hard in early spring, cutting back to 30–45cm above the ground. This will encourage a flush of fresh stems and abundant flowers through the growing season.
Feed with a balanced fertiliser in spring and again in midsummer, especially if planted in poorer soils or containers. Mulching in spring will help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Supplied in a 1.5L–2L pot, Lavatera ‘Barnsley’ is a quick-to-establish, low-maintenance shrub that will bring bold, long-lasting colour and cottage charm to your garden.
