Euphorbia ‘Ascot Rainbow’
The Euphorbia ‘Ascot Rainbow’ is a striking evergreen perennial, prized for its variegated foliage and unique, long-lasting flowers. Its slender, lance-shaped leaves feature green centres with golden-yellow edges, turning shades of pink and red in cooler temperatures. From spring to early summer (March to June), it produces lime-green and cream flower bracts with a subtle hint of red, adding year-round interest. Growing to a height of 50–60cm, it forms a compact, bushy mound, perfect for borders, rock gardens, and containers.
This variety is excellent for pollinator-friendly gardens, as its nectar-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects, providing an essential early food source.
For best results, plant in well-drained soil in a sunny or lightly shaded position. Euphorbia ‘Ascot Rainbow’ thrives in poor to moderately fertile soils and is highly drought-tolerant once established. It prefers a sheltered position, avoiding excessive winter wet.
Feed lightly with a general-purpose fertiliser in early spring to encourage healthy growth. Wear gloves when handling, as Euphorbia’s milky sap can cause skin irritation.
With its stunning foliage, long flowering season, and wildlife-friendly appeal, Euphorbia ‘Ascot Rainbow’ is a low-maintenance yet high-impact choice for any garden.
